Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust provides acute hospital based services to a population of approximately 350,000 people living in and around the towns of Chelmsford, Maldon and Witham.

  • Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford is the main hospital site housing Accident and Emergency services and the regional burns and plastic centre, St Andrew's.
  • St John’s Hospital in Chelmsford is the main centre for maternity and gynaecology services.

  • William Julien Courtauld Hospital in Braintree.
  • St Michael's Hospital in Braintree.
  • The Chelmsford and Essex Centre in Chelmsford.


Services
The Trust provides the majority of services at two hospital sites based in Chelmsford. It also provides services at four other locations in the mid Essex area.

Awards
In 2004 the Trust was awarded Associated Teaching Hospital status from Barts and The London, Queen Mary’s School of Medicine and Dentistry. This recognises the important work the Trust does in training junior doctors and the support offered to them by the Trust’s staff.
