RRP1 Products

The RAPID REVIEW PANEL (RRP) is an independent arms-length review panel and was convened in 2004 by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) at the request of the Department of Health. The panel provides a prompt assessment of new and novel equipment, materials and other products or protocols that may be of value to the NHS in improving hospital infection control and reducing healthcare-acquired infections. An RRP1 rating is defined as a product for which 'Basic research and development, validation and recent in use evaluations have shown benefits that should be available to NHS bodies to include as appropriate in their cleaning, hygiene or infection control protocols.

This page provides an overview of each RRP1 product placed in a Showcase Hospital, supplier contact details as well as useful supporting documentation. In addition, completed projects have a downloadable resource in the form of an adoption business case. These guides provide the necessary information to aid the reader and the partner organisation in adopting the new technology by providing an overview of the technology, the implementation process together with project results and business case study.

The table below highlights the current status of the products, whether the product is in the planning stage to be showcased, the ongoing products that are currently undergoing implementation in the showcase hospitals and the completed products that have been implemented and have adoption business cases available for use.
