NHS Technology Adoption Centre
The NHS Technology Adoption Centre, based in Manchester, was launched in September 2007 with the following key aims:
  1. To increase the uptake of new technology in all areas of the NHS.
  2. To work with partners to identify excellent technologies which will improve healthcare in the NHS.
  3. To promote greater cooperation between all organisations involved in the development and use of healthcare technologies in the NHS.

The North West Collaborative Commercial Agency (NW CCA)
The NW CCA is the award-winning collaborative purchasing agency for NHS Trusts in the North West of England.

Over the past four years, we have helped Trusts to achieve savings of more than £90 million which have been reinvested in enhanced patient care.

Our highly-qualified procurement specialists work with Trust staff to specify the products and services that are right for them and together we reduce costs and drive out waste and inefficiency.

Health Protection Agency's role
The Health Protection Agency's role is to provide an integrated approach to protecting UK public health through the provision of support and advice to the NHS, local authorities, emergency services, other Arms Length Bodies, the Department of Health and the Devolved Administrations.

The Rapid Review Panel (RRP) has been convened by the HPA at the request of The Department of Health. This was outlined in Winning Ways and Towards cleaner hospitals and lower rates of infection.

The panel provides a prompt assessment of new and novel equipment, materials, and other products or protocols that may be of value to the NHS in improving hospital infection control and reducing hospital acquired infections. Close
National Patient Safety Agency
The National Patient Safety Agency leads and contributes to improved, safe patient care by informing, supporting and influencing the health sector. Close


Healthcare Associated Infections

Healthcare Associated Infections (HCAI) are infections acquired in hospitals or due to healthcare interventions. They include MRSA and C. difficile.
